Another time capsule in Egypt, building erect around 1935. Large room with old decor and huge verandah over Court of Justice. I recomend egyptian breakfast at the roof top, when you choose. Perfect location for Modern Cairo.

If you are interested in flashy 5star chain hotels, this place is not for you.However if you are looking for character and charm, this place has bucket loads. Very Agatha Christie, expect Poirot to walk through the door. I personally Found it to be wonderful. If I was ever in Cairo again I would head straight here.

we loved the historic charme & character of the place. the staff was very friendly and helpful. the roof garden and the balcony were great.

The breakfast is one of the best you can get in Cairo plus the rooms are super comfortable with modern facilities but the refit has been done without scrubbing away the hotel's vintage charm. All the staff are exceedingly friendly and Ahmed is a hugely helpful and welcoming hotel manager who goes out of his way to fix any problems. Also, it's quite possibly the cleanest hotel at this price range in Cairo.

This wouldn’t be to everyone’s taste but if you’re after a genuine old-fashioned hotel in the hubbub of downtown Cairo crammed with historic period detail look no further. Much is still as designed in the 193Os with a colonial gentleman’s club vibe. Fantastically helpful staff, well appointed rooms, and worth coming if just for the garden roof bar. ignore the photos of the front of the hotel- they don’t do justice to what’s inside.

Very good and clean hotel in the center of the city, people working there are awesome, special thanks to Mr. Midhat & Hazem in the reception .. The breakfast could have more options but still it’s good & tasty … the roof garden is fabulous… highly recommend

My special place in Downtown Cairo. Came back several times during my trip in Egypt and will come back again

The beds and bedding were very nice. The staff were incredible. The roof top bar and food was great with a nice view of city. The historical pictures throughout in the halls were fascinating. Location is walking distance to Nile, museum, and shopping.

Carlton Downton hotel is a real gem - it brings you back in time with its authentic modernist interior. A very special place, I hope it stays like this.

Very good location 50 meters to métro station Nasser from where you can get easily to Egyptian muséum in 5 minutes. Very friendly and helpful staff.and the hôtel manager Ahmed is Archaeologist at Égyptien Museum and has a very good Knowledge about Tutenchamon.

Excellent Experience!
Location is surrounding by shopping centers and restaurants in the center of Cairo downtown. Room is large, clean with good view. Staffs are nice and helpful specifically, the manager, (Mr Ahmed) who makes my tripe more interesting.
I would highly recommend it to everyone are planning to visit Cairo.
